Updated my home office after getting a pair of APC RS 1500 (UPS) and rewired all the computers, cables and routers in the room.

Earlier today, I was doing some spring cleaning of my old computer files.  Very interesting to find a poster I did for the conference papers that I co-authored with Dr. Kotsireas from WLU.  This was a poster presented at UW and ECCAD 2004 on Computational Algebra.

Was trying to organize all the logistics for next week to Google I/O. And I just found out that Google Wave is not yet supported on Android via the Nexus One browser… the question is, do we expect to all bring laptops to the sessions for voting questions, view live notes…?

With only 12 days away from this year’s Google I/O sessions, I have been going through the session agenda in detail, here is what I come up with so far based on my interests. (Link to Google Doc)

Google Dashboard is a very useful service, which summarize the data stored with a Google account. With the many new services and features launched every week, it is a good practice to check the settings in Google Dashboard at least once a month, if not, more frequent. Services, which are enabled in the Google Dashboard are listed on the top half of the list. Note that there are still many services not integrated with the dashboard yet… more reason to check the dashboard once in a while to ensure your privacy settings are setup accordingly to your preference.

Cheers!

Happy half-birthday Dashboard! Six months in and 100,000 users a day

Six months ago, we launched the Google Dashboard to help you view and control information stored in your Google Account. It’s organized according to the products you use (like Gmail, Docs or YouTube), listing data stored in your account and providing direct links to control your personal settings.

Since we’re celebrating our very first half-birthday, we thought it was the ideal time to update you on how things are going. On average, around 100,000 unique visitors a day check out their Dashboard, 85 percent for the first time. Since launch, we’ve worked to grow Dashboard, adding a number of other Google products including Sites, Maps, Books, Webmaster Tools, Buzz, Goggles, Sidewiki and Analytics. We’re still working on adding other products to the tool and are talking with users about new ways to improve the functionality moving forward.

We launched the Dashboard to provide you with greater transparency and control. We’re proud of its success so far and look forward to what’s next. If you haven’t looked at your own Dashboard yet, check it out!

This is why I do what I do to become a software engineer (and now an IT Architect) at the first place. Sir Berners-Lee‘s presentation strengthen those of us who believing in computer science and the future of computing is for humanity, and not for fame and money.
